Our dental practice was founded in 1962 by Dr. Don Asbjornson. Today, Drs. Jon and Katie Asbjornson carry on the legacy of excellence and community service he modeled. We’re proud of our long history of exceptional dental care and look forward to serving new generations of patients.
Welcome Dr. Makena
Dr. Makena was born in Topeka, KS and attended Kansas State University, where she received her B.S. in Chemistry in 2019 and met her husband, Josh. After her graduation, they got married and moved to Lincoln, NE so that Dr. Makena could attend dental school. She attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, where she received her D.D.S. in 2023. While in dental school, she spent extensive time teaching younger students in the classroom and gaining as much experience in digital dentistry and prosthetics before graduation. Dr. Makena wasn’t ready to stop teaching, so she now teaches at the college when not working with her own patients in private practice. Her favorite part about practicing dentistry is the relationships she builds with her patients and the opportunities she is given to increase each patient’s comfort and confidence in their smile. In her free time, Dr. Makena loves spending time with her husband and 9-month-old daughter, Josephine. They enjoy taking their two goldendoodles on walks and watching movies together as a family. Dr. Makena is excited to have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from Dr. Kate and Dr. Jon and the rest of the amazing team here at Generations Family Dental.
